Golf Glossary - 'X'

X - For whatever reason when a score on a particular hole cannot be accurately determined an X is recorded on the scorecard. Example: "After ending up in the gully of fescue George took so many swings that he lost count and ended up taking an X on the hole."

X factor - the technical term used to describe the separation between the rotation of the shoulders and the hips during a golf swing. Example: "Typically the bigger the X-factor in your swing the faster the clubhead speed you can generate."
